Social Networks = Great Way to Promote

Whether you have a business online or offline, social networks are a great way to promote your business.

Many business people are unaware of the greatness of the internet world and the popularity of social networks.  There are several social networks offline, but the online variety are growing in large numbers.  Online social networks are basically online communities.  These communities make it easy to find individuals that will compliment your business or may be interested in your service or product.  There are many online communities available with some purely for socializing and making friends and others that are more business oriented.

Social networks make it easy for the business owner to promote not only themselves but their business as well.  Many will give you a profile page where you can include not only your picture, and information about yourself, but it will also give you space to include your links to your online websites and what services or products you may have to offer.  Having a profile page will also be a way to invite others to become your ‘friend’ and possibly a new client.

Social networks are great online communities and another form of advertising.  How else can you reach thousands of individuals on a daily basis for next to nothing.  Although some networks offer advertising space, it is not necessary in the beginning.  Your sole purpose in the beginning should be to gain exposure and develop relationships.  You will find that many social sites will frown upon blatant spamming of members and those are actually the sites you want to be a part of.  The sites that do not tolerate spamming are professional and will be the best networks to meet other professional business owners.

As  mentioned, social networking websites can benefit all website owners, but especially those who are looking to make a profit with their sites.   If you have a website that sells products or services, you may find it a little bit easier to use social networking sites to your advantage.  This is because, if you wish, you could do product or service spotlights.  Each day, week, or month, you could showcase one of the products or services that your website sells.  This could either be done right on your profile page or on a blog page, which is provided by most social networking websites.

It is wise to promote your profile page by joining in on discussions and making your presence on the social networks known.  As long as you are honestly interested in others and what they may have to offer, you will have a great reputation on the different social networks.  Some great sites you may consider are Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and many Ning sites catered to your interests.  Join some social networks today, get involved and watch the traffic to your site increase and with that traffic soon you will see revenues that will match.

  1. Spot on, Carrie! Businesses need to understand and harness the value of social media. Proper branding is so important, I can’t say it enough. Great post!

  2. Great tips Carrie! You know, I had never really thought about the fact that most social networks have their own blogs too. That’s an idea I will have to look into.

I’ve enjoyed that last few months of building my social network base of friends. Not only have I picked up some cool ideas but I’ve also made some lifelong friends. When we promote our blogs or the blogs of others it never feels like advertising, it’s just sharing info like we would in a normal conversation. I love it!

Thanks again for your insight & your perky personality!

  3. WOW! What an informative article! You are right on…every point brought up is important.

Thank you for sharing this helpful information!

I have also gained many wonderful relationships and tips in social networking and will continue to do so….what a great platform for success.
