The Pros and Cons of Affiliate Marketing

Every business has its own pros and cons. It’s just the way it is. A business that may be perfect for one person may be terrible for someone else. The same goes for affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is where a person creates a product and has others market that product for a percentage of the profits for each product sold.

Here are some pros to affiliate marketing:

  • Affiliate marketing owner

One pro to using affiliate marketing for the owner is you have more people promoting your product and you are reaching out to people that was never possible before.

Another pro to using affiliate marketing is you have the ability to generate a mailing list that you can use in the future for new products or information that you want to share.

  • Affiliate marketer

A pro for the marketer would be the fact that you don’t have to create the product, maintain the site, answer questions, or send out products.

Another pro for marketers is the fact that you can find many products that are perfect for your target market and share them with those people without doing any research to find them.

Here are some cons to affiliate marketing:

  • Affiliate marketing owner

One of the biggest cons for affiliate marketing is the time it takes to update your site, introduce new products, find affiliates, and pay them.

Another con is that you have to deal with affiliates that are upset when payments come in, you also have to deal with affiliates when a product is returned and you have to take the income back, and you have to deal with people that want a refund on products they are unhappy with.

  • Affiliate marketers

A con to being an affiliate marketer is that you don’t have control of the product or service that you are marketing. So in essence,  if someone is unhappy with the results of the owner, they may come to you and want you to do something about it.

Another con for an affiliate marketer would be the lack of products to promote to your target market. If your target market is very tight and you have an unusual target market you may have a hard time finding products to promote to them.

As you can see from the pros and cons listed above, you will have some thinking to do before you decide to become an affiliate marketing owner or an affiliate marketer. One thing to remember is you can always change your mind about this. You are not stuck in this forever.

The Don’ts of Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money with very little to no  investment. Affiliate marketing is where you market someone else’s product and in return you make a profit from each sale that you make.

You have to be careful when you do affiliate marketing because there are certain things that you don’t want to do.

Here are a few of those don’ts:

Don’t market products that are in direct competition with you. This will make it virtually impossible for you to market both. You want to make sure the products you market are not like the ones you offer in any way.

You don’t want to market a product that you disagree with. This can be anything from religious beliefs to personal beliefs. It’s never a good idea to market a product that you don’t agree with or trust.

Marketing products that are not in line with your target market can make it difficult to make money. You don’t want to market these types of products because you will be wasting your time. You need to market products that will help your target market.

Don’t SPAM your list with affiliate products.  Spamming is against the law and you don’t want to do this is because it’s a sure way to have people look down on you and the affiliate program owner. You don’t want to cause problems for you or them, so it’s a good idea not to do that.

Don’t advertise false information regarding the affiliate product. This means, don’t say it if you don’t know it’s true. Don’t agree with a statement if you can’t back it up with your own words. When you do this and people find out, you are losing respect and credibility with them. This can harm you in the present and in the future.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money without having to manage the site or the products. Affiliate marketing is not easy, but it’s easier to market a product that you don’t have to handle in any way. There are many sites that offer affiliate marketing products, so do your homework and find ones that work for you.

Successfully Marketing Your Product Online

Marketing a product online can be the death of it if you are scared to do it. Some people don’t even want to create a product for fear that it won’t be successful. You should not let fear get in the way of  trying to reach out to people and show them what you can do for them.

Marketing your product online can be done with ease when you are familiar with the way you need to do it. There are so many ways to market your products online, but the successful ways will be determined when you find what works and you stick to it. Most importantly  you MUST stick to it!

The first thing you must know is it takes six to eight times of your product being in front of a person before they will even consider looking at your site and making the purchase. They have to be able to trust you and they have to make sure that you are not a fly by night marketer. This is why you need to decide on a few ways to market your product and stick to it for two or three months.

Now the first way you can market your product successfully is to create an affiliate program. When you do this, you will have the help of your affiliates to promote and sell your product. You will reach out to higher levels of people using an affiliate program than you can on your own.

Another successful way to promote your product is to use button ads. A button ad is a square picture that is placed on a site and linked to your site. This means when someone clicks on the picture, it will take them to your site.

Text and link ads are also successful ways to promote your product, but you need to be careful with these. You are limited to the words in a text ad, so you want to give as much information as possible in very few words. With link ads you are restricted to your web address only, so you will need to use that wisely as well.

Social media is another successful way to promote your product. You can use websites such as Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and Youtube, but you must be careful not to SPAM your readers with your posts.

Promoting your products online is a great way to reach people outside of your home town. You can reach people in all parts of the world with your website. Using the techniques listed above will help you successfully market your product online using your website.

Some Advertising Tips for Online Success

Advertising your business is one of the only ways people will know you are in business and actually exist.. Of course you have word of mouth which is the best way to advertise your business, but it’s hard to receive traffic from people in states that you have never done business in before.

This is the main reason you need to advertise your business for others across the states to see. Here are some tips that will help you with your advertising options.

1.    Websites

Advertising on websites is one way to gain traffic. You will want to find websites that are visited by your target market. You will also want to make sure that the traffic is good because you don’t want to spend your money on it if it’s not worth it. You can ask the website owner for this information.

When you advertise on a website, you may have several options. You can use a banner, button, text, or link ad and point it to a specific page on your site. The website owner will have a list of options to choose from along with the prices.

2.    Online radio shows

Look for online radio shows that are geared to your target market. You can see if they offer advertising on their site, on the show, and if you they do interviews. You could set up a weekly segment on the show if they allow that. Then you need to place a button on your site to advertise your new segment.

3.    Social media

Social media is another way to advertise your business. You make friends within your target market, help them out, and then advertise your site every once in a while. Make sure you talk with others and post things other than your business as well. You don’t want to spam your followers or they will leave you and tell others not to follow you. The most important point to remember about social media is that building relationships is a must, everything else will follow.

Advertising your business is crucial for growth. You need to do it on a regular basis so that others will see what you have to offer and how you can help them. There are many different options you have when it comes to advertising your business. Included were some tips but there are many other unique ways to advertise.  Consider a FREE teleseminar, webinar or possibly a podcast show of own.  The more exposure you have the more people will remember and your online success will grow.

Is Article Marketing For You?

Article marketing is a wonderful tool that will drive traffic and sales to your site. Article marketing is the practice of writing content filled articles and submitting them to directories for others to read and use as content on their website or blog.

Articles can be on just about any topic you could imagine. You will want to articles based on your knowledge and your website. You want to drive your target market to your website and the only way that will happen is if you write about topics that your target market is interested in. For example, if you are a makeup rep, you wouldn’t want to write articles for animals. You would want to write articles that show women how to have healthy skin or how to apply eye shadow the correct way.

Your articles need to be full of good content and you want them to be helpful to the reader. Tip articles that help your target market are perfect for articles. When you help your reader solve a problem or prevent a problem from happening, they will search for more articles so you can continue to help them. The same goes for articles that help them do something. When you show your target market how to do something they won’t have to hire it out and they will continue to look for those types of articles from you.

Once you have your articles written, you need to submit them to article directories so people can find them. You will need to search for article directories that meet two criteria. The first criterion is that they are geared toward your target market and the second criterion is that they have a category that meets the needs of your articles. For example, if you write an article on affiliate marketing and it’s geared toward your makeup market you would want to look for directories that are geared toward women because they are your target. You wouldn’t want to submit your article to a directory that has mostly male categories because you will not get anywhere with your article. You would want to find directories that have a lot of female categories.

Article marketing is important for business owners to do on a regular basis. You need to write articles that are filled with content and then you want to submit them to directories that reach out to your target market. When you do this, you will have article marketing success.

What is Outsourcing – How Can It Help Me?

The easiest way to define outsourcing is where a business owner pays someone to do work for them who doesn’t work at the business site. For example, you can hire a ghostwriter to write your articles. You pay the ghostwriter and the article is yours to submit, post on your site, or add to your blog.

Outsourcing gives business owners the opportunity to do other things. It gives you the ability to grow your business in other ways, add new tasks or products to your business, or spend more time with your family.

When you outsource certain tasks for your business, you can dedicate your time to the tasks that make you money. Those are more than likely, not something you can hire someone to do, so you will need to do them yourself.

You can outsource so many tasks, but of course what you outsource will depend on your business. Here are just a few of the tasks you can outsource:

1.    Newsletter creation and submission
2.    Article writing and submissions
3.    Blog writing and posting
4.    Social Media
5.    Email management
6.    Attend training sessions and take notes for you
7.    Set appointments for you or add your appointments to your calendar
8.    Research
9.    Manage your affiliate program
10. Market your affiliate programs for you

To have a better understanding of outsourcing, I must tell you that the people you will hire are called ghostwriters or virtual assistants. This may help you to understanding of what outsourcing is about and who will help you.

When you outsource tasks in your business, you will feel better about your business. You will feel like you can grow and have success, you will be happy with your business, and you feel like it can really happen. Stress is one of the worst things you can do for your business. Outsourcing will help prevent stress in your business.

As a business owner, you should consider outsourcing projects and tasks that will give you more time to grow your business and have time with your family. When you outsource you will have the time to go on a vacation and go to events that you never thought possible because you had to constantly work your business.

So, how will you you monitor your time more effectively? Consider outsourcing to give you more time to focus on your main goals.

To marketers communication means something completely different. While those are important and they are ways they communicate with their customers, but there are other tools to use when they want to communicate.

Technology has proven to be the way of life. Even schools are using cell phones and email as a way to communicate with parents regarding their children. As a business owner, you need to find the best ways and the ways that are used the most so you can meet the needs of your customers.

Button ads are a little tricky because you are limited on what you can say. If you use a rotating button, you can have more information than you can have if you have one that doesn’t rotate.

Text ads are good, but you are restricted to a certain number of words. You will need to use your words wisely and make sure your customers will know what you want them to do. Most times you will be limited to five to seven words.

Do You Have a Strong Slogan or Tag Line?

We touched upon branding and how to determine the correct and most powerful brand for your business.  Today we will focus on your slogan or tag line.  Do you have one and if so, how strong or powerful is it?

It’s important not to dismiss this plan, the creation of a slogan is very important and one that will set you apart from your competition.  A slogan or tag line usually consists of a short sentence or phrase that will literally reinforce your business name or logo.  Many successful businesses have incorporated this in their marketing plan and because of this the companies can be easily recognized by their slogans alone.

The Importance of a Slogan

The main purpose for developing a slogan is to get brand recognition.  The slogan will be the back up when images fail.  A slogan will be more easily remembered by the consumers and therefore will enhance the market of the product or service. So, in essence your sole purpose is to create a slogan that not only creative but intelligent as well.  You want to capture the consumer’s attention and create interest in your product or service.  Your slogan can be catchy enough to not only jar their memories but also create a need for your product.  The purpose is to have the consumer take action which in this case is to purchase your product or service.

Developing an Impactful Slogan

We have determined that a good slogan must be memorable.  This is the main reason for developing a slogan, a memorable one will increase your brand recall and motivate the consumer to purchase.

A good slogan will produce images in the consumer’s mind. Most people produce images on their mind when they hear something. Hence, you can trigger the visual patterns of your customers by using the slogan. An example of this, is creating a logo that will trigger such a response, for example the ‘golden arches’ – everyone knows that one, right?

An impactful  slogan will drive people to action. The slogan will trigger people to purchase or tell others who will ultimately purchase.

A good slogan will also highlight the benefits of your product or service. This is tied up with the efforts of creating product distinction, which is to emphasize the benefits that one can derive from using a company’s products or services.

So, now the homework for you is to develop a strong and powerful slogan.  More importantly one that consumers will remember and entice them to purchase your product or service.
