Promotions: Do They Know You Exist?
Does your target market or audience know you exist? What are you doing to reach out to your market? With today’s technology we must take advantage of every avenue available to us. Having a blog or website is perfect but not if your audience doesn’t know about it?
Let’s talk about publicizing or promoting your information. If you have a blog or website, that is the perfect avenue to share your knowledge. That is the first step. The next would be to market your blog or website and that’s where technology comes into play. We are all a part of some type of social networking platform. These platforms are the best places to publicize your site or your latest post or article.
In order for folks to know you exist you must make an effort to be found. Posting on social networks and socializing on them will help in this venture. Otherwise, no one will find you…yes find you! Instead of waiting for individuals to Find you, you must be willing to be found!
If you have a product that will set you apart from the rest, consider a press release. The press release I mention is not only one that will be circulated online but offline as well. Believe it or not, many individuals in your community are not aware of your products, especially if you are only sharing them online. Don’t be afraid to move out of your comfort zone. A press release will help circulate your information into different media outlets, such as magazines and television news programs as well as online publications. The means of exposure are limitless but only if you make the first step.
What are you doing to let others know you exist? Consider guest posting on more popular blogs or websites to reach out to others who may not know you. That’s just the beginning.
We will explore other methods this month but don’t wait for me, share what you do to let others know you exist. Inquiring minds want to know.

One of the issues I have is that my main core business doesn’t have an audience that uses social media, and thus I’m prominent enough for everyone else except my core business. Obviously that’s problematic, as I now work on figuring out a way to bring those people into the mix so I can so my social media thing on them.
Hi Carrie!
Looking forward to the ideas and tips coming over the next month!
I love the topic of promotion and finding new ways to promote myself and reach the people I am meant to serve.
The latest thing I’ve been doing is hanging out on new blogs, retweeting articles I like and leaving comments so I can meet the blog owners and others who are hanging out there.
It’s a great way to meet new people!
BTW, I love “The Barefoot Executive” – brilliant!
This is a great question!
To tell potential customers that I exist, word of mouth is an important part of my strategy.
I first determine where it is that my target market is hanging out. What forums do they post in? What blogs do they read? What newsletters do they subscribe to? What websites do they use?
I then get to know the owner of these forums/blogs/sites. I start by approaching them with an offer such as a free product, a feature on my blog to bring them traffic or I’ll purchase advertising from them.
Once we become friends and they know more about me and what I do, it just naturally happens that they spread the word about what I offer. In return I am of course promoting their businesses as well.
Twitter and Facebook have made it easy for me to get to know the owners of important sites in my niche. They’re on those sites to be social so you can strike up a conversation more easily than an unsolicited email.
Hopefully someone finds this useful! I’m looking forward to reading what strategies are working for others.

Writing guest posts for other websites with similar audiences has worked for me. It’s like getting a great introduction from someone at a party to all of their friends.
When it comes to social media, I do use Twitter, and try to help out other people and answer questions more than promote my own material. It tends to give you more impact when you do have something to promote.
Looking forward to reading more tips and hints though!
